Since the commissioning of Kazungula One stop border post, the border has changed the face of the small town, with many businesses allocated into the main border premises which include banks, bureaus and other fast foods.

Kazungula local taxi operators have this morning expressed their grievances on the pressing challenges surrounding their business as local drivers.

In an interview, Mr. Clement Sitali, the local taxi drivers chairman said  that  the coming of the Kazungula bridge was purposely a good venture not to benefit the international trades only but to also favor local businesses such as taxis drivers.

He narrated that the situation at hand where Zambia Revenue Authority is denying entry to the local taxis into the border is very disappointing.

Mr. Sitali who is also Kazungula Central ward chairman for the United Party for National Development (UPND) added that local taxis are denied access to Kazungula One stop border post on the Zambian side while freely entering a foreign current Botswana without having challenges with the authorities.

Mr. Sitali said that ZRA in Kazungula has put up this blockage which is affecting the youths who are in the taxi business who have empowered themselves.

Speaking in the same interview, Mr. Lawrence Kapenda, another taxi operator has confirmed the development.

Kapenda added that Kazungula has a number of pressing issues including the local roads. He has implored government to take an interest to work on the cited challenges.

A follow-up has been made for ZRA to comment on the matter.
